Services:

I have to say that doing plaster repair work is something I really enjoy. There are many people who can do new plaster or drywall work, but it takes special skills and materials to do plaster repairs "right". I did my first plaster repair in New York City in 1982. Since then I've done thousands of repairs to a large variety of homes and buildings. Today I operate a plaster repair business out of Canton, Illinois, and do most of my work in the Peoria area. To ensure that a quality job is done on every project, I do all the repairs myself, and I only use genuine plaster products. And I make sure I treat your home as if it were my own. No shortcuts - only quality all the way! If you live in the Peoria area and would like to have a free estimate, please feel free to contact me. My contact information is at the end of this page. I hope I can be of service in helping out on your particular project!

I also invite my customers to post comments under "Raymer Plastering" on Angie's List.
I have a review already, and I'm hoping this will grow. Take a look, or post one if you would. I sure appreciate it!

I have included a few pictures on this page that show the common types of projects I work on:

Water Damage

Water Damage

One of the most common problems that occur in a home is water damage. This can be caused by a leaky roof, storm damage, a plumbing problem, or a tub overflow or toilet leak. Once the water problem is solved, I will come in and work on the damaged area and make it look like it never happened!

Holes

Holes

Another common problem is where part of a ceiling - or an entire ceiling - becomes loose and falls down or collapses. This can be caused by water damage or some type of vibration problem. In older homes vibration or sound waves cause hairline cracks in the old plaster "keys" that hold the ceiling plaster in place. When these break, it's only a matter of time before a piece of the ceiling begins to crack and eventually comes falling down. In newer homes a plumber may need to cut a hole in the ceiilng to fix the pipes, or there may be water damage that occurs. Whatever the reason, I can fill in the hole and put it back together so it's safe and sound.

Tile Adhesive/ Resurfacing

Resurfacing

Many homeowners want to do some remodeling, so they take down the old tile in a kitchen or bathroom area. Now the question comes up: What to do with all the glue and rock hard adhesive that is left over on the surface. Or it may be that paneling or wallpaper may be taken down and some "surprises" show up that need to be fixed. The good news is that plaster can be used to skim right over these areas in a very short time. So don"t spend your precious time trying to fix these areas yourself. Call Plaster Man!

Cracks

Cracks

Crack repair is one of the most common repairs that I do. Cracks in plaster come in all shapes and sizes, and are found in homes both old and new. They are often caused by stress or settling that puts pressure on the ceiling or wall area and causes the plaster to break, which takes the form of a crack. Many older homes that were once crack free are now having cracks develop. The reason many of these occur is that some neighborhoods are being re-zoned so that larger, heavier trucks are part of the traffic coming by. These create sound waves and vibrations that crack the walls, especially those facing the street. Cracks also are formed in newer "drywall" finished homes. These cracks become visible on the corners and wall areas, often because of shoddy or cheap finishing methods that are used. The good news is that I can repair both plaster AND drywall finished homes with plaster, so that the cracks won't come back!

Remodeling Projects

Remodeling

Many homeowners will have a kitchen or bathroom remodeled, and after soffits and walls are put in or taken out, I am called in to put things back together. Cutting out sections of ceilings and walls will leave many uneven surfaces that need to be filled, blended and feathered out, or in some cases completely replastered. There are other projects where a homeowner just wants a new look. For instance, plaster can be used to resurface a textured wall to make it smooth - or a smooth wall can be textured. Plaster makes this all possible. And plaster DOES NOT need to be sanded like drywall does. So there's less of a mess with plaster!
